Young Innovators – Part 2

WordPress is one theme (pun intended) of two companies at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center‘s Student Venture Lab.  And, I don’t just mean that people are using WordPress for blogs.  These companies go way beyond that in terms of their WordPress expertise.

WPCandy.com, a part of the GooRoo, LLC network, is a premiere source of daily WordPress news and information.  WPCandy is edited by WordPress expert Ryan Imel and supported by the other GooRoo founders, Justin Vela, Aaron Kugler, and Eric Lash.  If you follow WordPress here in the Midwest, you may have heard Ryan present at WordCamp Detroit.

WPCandy has recently introduced a new product called Theme Finder.   Theme Finder presents a visual array of hundreds of WordPress Themes.  You can then screen what you see by color, number of columns, and free versus premium.  Once you find the theme you want, just click through and get it.

Guild Press, LLC, founded by Ray Angel and Justin Rouch, is a guild website management system.  Built around the WordPress core, Ray and Justin have created significant changes to the WordPress core code to optimize it for gamer guilds, created numerous guild-friendly themes, and are working on importing game and guild data automatically.

What’s my point?  Simple.  Fort Wayne and the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center is fast becoming a great place to launch and operate your WordPress related venture.  Come join us!
